From time to time milk was applied to make a luster effect on the glass. They inevitably were termed Kakamba Prosser beads, named following the city within the Republic of Congo the place they have been traded. Prosser beads began to drop away from favor in the early 1900’s when much more elaborate glass bead styles have been released in Africa.
